Your impact for climate and biodiversity
Taking responsibility as a company and effectively protecting habitats
Your contribution counts!
Companies are increasingly being measured by their environmental and social footprint . It is important to take responsibility and also to act within the framework of ESG and its own CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive).
The preservation of old, intact but endangered habitats with maximum biodiversity andCO2 storage is one way for companies to demonstrate this responsibility. In a cooperation with Wilderness International , you will achieve a measurable impact of your commitment as a nature-based solution to reduce greenhouse gases (ESRS 1 Environment), as a promotion of biodiversity (ESRS S4) and as an economic lever for local communities (ESRS S3).

1 % for forest protection
Create your own nature reserve by establishing your own company forest - with 1% of your turnover.
Protect habitats and species forever and give something back to nature! Donate 1% of your annual turnover, establish a company forest and let it grow in Peru and/or Canada every year. This way you actively protect our future and show your community real responsibility. Just like our partner SumUp.

1m2 of rainforest per product
Increase your sales and protect the world's most biodiverse forests at the same time: 1m2 per product sold. Protect 1m2 old-growth forest with every product sold - forever! One square meter of wilderness is preserved per order or from a certain price. If you wish, your customers can receive a code for their own certificate with the exact geo-coordinates for redemption.

CO2 compensation
Offset your remainingcarbon footprint with the protection of endangered forests - transparently and effectively. Reduce yourCO2 footprint and offset what's left! 1m2 of protected area binds 60 kg ofCO2. For €16.70, you can protect forests that store 1 tonne ofCO2 - and also protect the last intact habitats for countless animal and plant species. Many companies even share theCO2 compensation with their customers - as does our partner DIAMIR.

Forest as a gift
Give a meaningful gift that will last forever!
A gift with real impact! Use occasions such as Biodiversity Day, Christmas or birthdays to protect the last intact habitats for employees, partners and/or customers. You will receive personalized certificates with the exact geocoordinates of the protected forest area - a sustainable gift that will stay with you or the recipient and future generations forever!

Community forest
Make your community a proud part of your mission!
Inspire your community and get them actively and personally involved! With our innovative option of giving away codes, you can protect wilderness together. You can enclose them with orders, send them in newsletters or use them for competitions and loyalty campaigns. Customers redeem their code, receive exact geocoordinates and aerial images and can even increase their protection. Simple, personal, effective.

Doubling of donations
Achieve more together - double donations & thus the impact!
Become an enabler! Set a maximum amount and double the donations from your community and the Wilderness International community. Turn 5m2 into 10m2, 10m2 into 20m2! Increase the visibility of your commitment and make it perfect for events such as Rainforest Day, Christmas, Easter or Mother's Day. More impact, more reach - twice as good!

Targeted projects
Fund targeted needs-based or educational projects in the middle of the world's most biodiverse forest!
Contribute your company, your foundation, your family office or your family name forever to a specific need or education project in cooperation with the communities, the indigenous population and Wilderness International. These can be projects such as the construction of a treetop tower as a research base, educational courses for local school classes, the installation of camera traps in the treetops for biodiversity monitoring or the targeted mapping and protection of ironwood trees that contain the macaws' natural nesting oils. Let's talk individually here.

Teamlead Cooperation & Special Projects
Big trees, mountains and valleys shrouded in mist. Green as far as the eye can see - the love of travel and the urge to be in the wilderness still characterizes me today. At Wilderness International, I dedicate some of my time to preserving these places and protecting biodiversity.
I have spent the last 20+ years working in Marketing & Communications at Red Bull, Google and YouTube, managing large-scale projects and community events, creating campaigns and content, and initiating creator collaborations. I hope that through the foundation's work and effective partnerships, among other things, we will be able to preserve the last 2.8% of intact land habitats on our planet for our and future generations. They are essential as a global lever for CO2 sequestration and are simply beautiful.

As our climate gets hotter every year, more and more customers are choosing to protect the planet with their wallets. Generation Z in particular sees sustainability as an important factor in the brands they buy from. So when brands become more environmentally friendly, they can also become more popular.
The Foundation Board and Executive Board decided in March 2015 that Wilderness International will not apply for the DZI donation seal, but will instead join the Transparent Civil Society Initiative. The decision is based, among other things, on the recommendations for action contained in the master's thesis of our long-time Foundation Board President Ellen Weiland on the topic of "Responsible Management in the Foundation Sector - Derivation of a Recommendation for Action Using the Example of Wilderness International".
Key points that speak against applying for the DZI donation seal:
- Misappropriation of donated funds for the cost of applying for certification.
- High workload and costs for a small foundation run like an NGO
"In addition to an investigation of how the trust relationship between the stakeholders and the foundation stands, the question of whether it is ethically correct to spend a portion of the collected donations on the costs of applying for the DZI donation seal had to be clarified. From the point of view of the foundation's management, this is tantamount to misappropriation, since the management has a very specific and correct responsibility to use the donated funds for the intended purpose, and should not incur costs for this in the form of time and resources for submitting the manifold documents that would be required for an application for the donation seal." - Ellen Weiland, Responsible Management in the Foundation Sector - Derivation of a Recommendation for Action Using the Example of Wilderness International.
In addition, there are also large, very well-known associations recognized as charities that do not have a DZI donation seal, such as BUND, WWF and Grüne Liga.
We do not have an old-growth forest protection project ourselves in Germany. However, we can recommend the old-growth forest project of Peter Wohlleben's Wohlleben Forest Academy, where you can also protect a piece of forest in Germany. We also have projects in Germany, but these mainly focus on tree planting and environmental education projects with schools, as there are hardly any old-growth forest left in Germany. As you can see from Wohlleben's project, it is also much more expensive to protect forests in Germany and we can't do it indefinitely, we can only do it for 30 years. This does not mean that forests in Germany should not necessarily be protected. However, given the urgency of the matter (we barely have time to protect the last virgin forests on earth before they are gone forever), we believe that we can have a much bigger impact with the same amount of money by buying large amounts of existing virgin forest in Canada and Peru and protecting them forever.
We believe this is important and we recommend brands always take a long-term approach. This includes sustainability approaches that take time to implement, such as recycling and packaging reduction. However, donating to protect what's left of our environment should always be part of your approach, as it has a great protective effect and can be implemented in a very short time.
Depending on the environmental geography, both make sense. However, in areas like Peru, it can take centuries for all fauna and flora to regenerate in these ancient rainforests. They are also threatened by loggers, farmers and miners. So it's really important that we protect these valuable areas so that we don't have to replant them in the future.
About Wilderness International
The foundation, which is based in Peru, Canada and Germany, purchases legally secure wilderness areas and protects them for the future. The purchases are refinanced through donations, which ensure the long-term protection of the areas, supports environmental education projects, and research into CO2 storage and biodiversity.
