Thanks to a scholarship, young people experience and explore the wilderness they have committed themselves to protecting at first hand on expedition trips. At home, as passionate ambassadors, they inspire many thousands of fellow human beings for wilderness protection and also contribute to the foundation's work in many ways.
We provide insights into the early days of the foundation and our environmental ambassadors report on the first expeditions to Canada from 2008 to 2014.

When you listen to the silence in the rainforest, you learn to distinguish the important from the unimportant. It has become important to me that our children's children can experience this later on.

Environmental Ambassador
To participate in the Environmental Ambassador Program, you must be at least 14 years old and in 9th-11th grade. You or your school must have participated in the Wilderness Run at least once.

Participants are selected on the basis of various criteria. This always includes the composition of the team, reliability, team spirit, suitability for expedition in the wilderness setting.
Participation in the program costs you nothing. You will receive a scholarship that covers all costs for preparation, follow-up and travel. You should only plan for the costs of travel and, if necessary, accommodation for the preparation weekends and events. In addition, costs for clothing and equipment that you may need to purchase for the expedition.
In addition, we ask all participants to raise a donation of 500€ for the Environmental Ambassadors' Forest with the help of their own circle of supporters.
During your participation in the program you should plan at least four weekends for preparation and follow-up of the expedition. In addition, you will need time for the preparation of your project, about XY hours per week.
Environmental Ambassadors trips take place approximately every two years.
