When I was in 5th grade and heard about trees that are more than a hundred times older than I am, I decided to take part in the Wilderness Run. It felt great to be able to actively do something for international and regional wilderness conservation. The opportunity to go on an expedition to Western Canada in 11th grade was a real turning point for me, because I was finally able to experience the unique natural beauty of the Toba Valley with all my senses. The vastness and unspoiled nature of wilderness me so deeply that I wanted to continue my involvement with the foundation in the future. By organizing wilderness runs and, above all, serving as coordinator for the Wilderness Team Challenge, I was able to grow and bring new ideas to life. A second expedition to our wilderness areas and the Western Arctic once again demonstrated to me the significance of my work—and expanded my practical and cultural skills.
