Science & Research (Ornithology)

My identity is reflected in the geography of Peru: from my roots in the Andes and the highlands to my childhood in Iquitos in the rainforest. This multicultural heritage helps me to understand the Amazon as a living and interconnected system.

I am a biologist and am currently completing a master's degree in environmental management. My love for ornithology and birds developed in 2018 when I observed species in primary and secondary forests. This path has taught me that nature conservation also arises from the interaction between science and territorial management.

At Wilderness International, my work goes beyond observation. My mission is to protect our forests to ensure that the call of the screaming piha (Lipaugus vociferans)—the acoustic heartbeat of the jungle—is never replaced by the silence of devastation.
