As the location of Trier University of Applied Sciences, the Environmental Campus Birkenfeld is a special place to live, learn, and work, and offers its approximately 2,000 students interdisciplinary studies at a unique "Zero Emission University".

Environmental and sustainability aspects run like a green thread through all the degree programs offered. The bachelor's degree program in Nonprofit and NGO Management, which will be launched in 2021, prepares young motivated people for work in social, charitable, humanitarian, but also environmental protection-related institutions. The dual practice-integrated study variant places special emphasis on the practical training of the next generation in the third sector.

Since 2023, the collaboration has enabled students to work on real projects and practically apply their acquired knowledge in the field of environmental protection and sustainability. This creates a unique learning environment that empowers young talent for a sustainable future in social and environmental institutions.

In addition, the university provides Wilderness International with its expertise in planned research projects.
