Nuremberg Technical University

  • Practice-oriented university of applied sciences
  • Joint water research project in Peru in collaboration with the Institute for Hydraulic Engineering and Water Resources Management
  • Partner since 2025

Nuremberg Technical University Georg Simon Ohm is one of the largest universities of applied sciences in Bavaria and has been combining practical teaching with application-oriented research since its foundation in 1971.

As part of its partnership with Wilderness International, Nuremberg Tech has been working on a joint water research project in Peru since 2025. In collaboration with the Institute of Hydraulic Engineering and Water Resources Management, hydrological and ecological processes in watercourses within and around protected areas are being investigated. The aim is to gain a better understanding of water availability, water dynamics, and the ecological quality of tropical waters. The collaboration thus provides an important scientific basis for the long-term protection of freshwater ecosystems, which play a central role in biodiversity, local livelihoods, and functioning forest ecosystems.

By combining applied research, international cooperation, and concrete nature conservation, the partnership between Nuremberg Tech and Wilderness International makes a lasting contribution to environmental and water protection.
