From island to island

Wilderness International

Dear Wildblog readers, The sun is shining today and we have project time in the morning. We are using the time to conduct interviews on the subject of wolves. The Holy Crab Group is shooting its film on the subject of crabs. However, the highlight of the day comes after lunch: We want to set off on a hiking tour on another island. We help to carry the canoe into the water and some of us stay on the island to use the day to film the clip for Anton, build a hummingbird trap and get fresh water. Meanwhile, the other part of the group travels to a neighboring island and hikes upstream along a stream. They have to walk several stretches through the old-growth forest and have the feeling of being surrounded by untouched nature. However, Kai and Hannes explain to them that they are walking through an 80-year-old clear-cut area where large trees have already grown back. They felt like real 'explorers'. They are very disappointed when their supposed destination can only be reached via a tree felling road that runs right through the forest. When they finally arrive at the lake, they go for a swim, which is not so easy: the water is red-brown and muddy, as a lot of soil has been eroded into the lake by the clear-cutting. On the way back, they notice the old stumps of giant jungle trees - it looks very sad. Back on our island, we enjoy a delicious evening meal from Jarret. All sated, we perform a round of Viennese waltzes with Kathi for the Cowichan and finally all dance to the sound of the drums. Now we have to get to bed quickly so that we can all go out in the canoe together tonight and see the bioluminescence. Good night and see you soon. :) Ronja, Brother Wolf Wilderness InternationalWilderness InternationalWilderness InternationalWilderness InternationalWilderness InternationalWilderness InternationalWilderness InternationalWilderness InternationalWilderness InternationalWilderness InternationalWilderness International
