Dear Wildblog readers,
I got up early and, as always, breakfast is healthy and delicious (muesli, porridge and fruit). It was the first morning without rain, but we were still a bit chilly. There were no special tasks for today, so everyone worked on their projects, enjoyed the wilderness or looked for their own adventure.
Reinhardt (Reini) set off on a diving tour around the rocks of "Birthday Island" (our island). He was accompanied by a curious seal and we were able to observe how it kept flashing underwater. Later we were able to enjoy his brilliant pictures together.
At the same time, a few of us started to build a jacuzzi, a kind of hot pool. We dug a very large hole for it, covered it with a sheet and weighed it down with a few stones. After filling it with water together, we set about heating it in the "traditional" way: we lit a fire in a second hole to heat the stones, which we then placed in the pool. What a nice and pleasant luxury (especially as we were all a bit cold).
And let's be honest, who has a warm Jacozzi on the beach with a view of whales, bald eagles, the Pacific and breathtakingly beautiful scenery when you're "fighting for survival" in the wilderness? We're doing really well here. As many of us were a bit tired, after lunch (a salmon soup cooked on an open fire) we took a wonderfully cozy nap on the rocks on the coast.
Some of the group used their free time to go out in a canoe to fetch wood and water. On the way, they saw humpback whales, bald eagles etc. and fished for dinner in the form of mackerel and rockfish.
The highlight of the evening is a campfire with stick bread on the rocks. Some of the group enjoy the reheated jacuzzi. Together we wait for the deep night to see the bioluminescence. with the canoe.
