It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Dr. Maria Laura Tolmos—scientist, conservationist, trailblazer, and cherished friend. Her tireless dedication to protecting the rainforests, her spirit of adventure, and her deep connection to the natural world have left a lasting impact on Wilderness International in Peru and Germany, as well as on countless people.
The forest we are protecting together in her name forever is her legacy. It will stand as a lasting tribute to Maria Tolmos, her life's work, and the inspiration she gave to so many –a reminder that her commitment to the rainforest will continue to make a difference far beyond her lifetime.
